Club-Mate is a caffeinated carbonated maté-extract beverage made by the Loscher Brewery (Brauerei Loscher) in Germany. Club-Mate is popular for its relatively high caffeine content (20 mg per 100 ml) and low sugar content compared to other beverages and energy drinks. Compared to other lemonades and cola drinks the amount of sugar used in Club-Mate is less than half.
Club-Mate became well known in the Berlin’s club scene during the 90’s as an alternative to unhealthy energy drinks. Club-Mate does not contain any traces of synthetic Taurine.
The savour of Club-Mate is somehow different but refreshing. It tastes like a soft drink, but not as a sweet. It features a unique combination of caffeine and tannins. It stimulates but doesn’t make you fidgety.
Club-Mate is made from Mate – an old South American jungle plant. Mate is an Antioxidant Powerhouse! With its naturally occurring unique combination of stimulants.
The stimulating effect is caused by a favourable amount of caffeine, in a form well suitable to anyone. Yerba’s influence on the neural system comes from its characteristics as a stimulant, this explains why it is so extremely effective against muscle fatigue. These physiological phenomena could repeatedly be observed. Tiredness after heavy work disappeared in a miraculous way after one sip of maté. Out of the yerba plant we produce an extract with pure sugar, used in bottling the Club-Mate drink. Mate tea is extremely popular in large parts of South America, the natives attribute many positive effects to it. So, it’s no surprise, that maté is praised as the green gold of the Indians in Europe as well, a natural remedy and a magic potion.
Club-Mate is also perfect to mix it with alcoholic drinks. Try Club-Mate with Vodka which is very famous in Berlin´s club scene and you will find a new way of making party.
Georg Latteier who had been running a small beverage company in Dietenhofen/Bavaria since 1889 first discovered the then so called “Sekt-Bronte” on an exhibition in 1924. He acquired the licence for producing and distributing this beverage in his region of Germany.
“Sekt-Bronte” was a non-alcoholic drink made from mate and several other ingredients. The mate tea leaves came from South America, where the indians had discovered the value of mate many centuries before. It was advertised as being “beneficial to health, stimulating, with a rich taste comparable to wine”. Also, it was considered to be helpful in curing kidney diseases and losing weight. The Latteier company delivered only in an area about 10 kilometers around Dietenhofen but the drink soon became a regional success.
World War II ended production of „Sekt Bronte“. But after the war, Bronte was still well known, so production could soon be started again.
In 1957 due to smart investment in fully automated bottling and capping machines and enormous personal commitment of Mr. Suernheimer the company became more and more successfull and the area of distribution larger.
In 1994, due to old age, Mr. Sauernheimer sold the licence for the production of „Sekt Bronte“ to the Loscher brewery in Münchsteinach/Bavaria.
It continues to be sold under its new Name “Club-Mate”.
So, happily, we don’t have to do without it!

Club-Mate is based on natural ingredients. It is also an ECO product which is only available in glass bottles and produced with 100 % of renewable energies. The first project we support is KEEP BALI CLEAN.
It is primarily an educational campaign, focusing on the problem of littering and plastic.
Bali is one of the ca. 14.000 beautiful islands in Indonesia. It is famous for its incredibly unique Hindu culture and temples and is one of the most famous surf spots in the world. But unfortenately threatened by environmental problems like garbage collection.
80% of the island has no garbage collection, with residents choosing to burn their rubbish, or in the monsoon season throw it in the many rivers that lead to the sea.
The Australian artist and business owner David Eagles has resided in Bali for 18 years with his Balinese wife and children. Frustrated with the increasing amount of plastic in the local surf breaks, David began seeking solutions to the problem. In October 2012 David teamed up with the world body building champion Komang Arnawa, a Balinese hero. The result was a very powerful poster to help reduce the use of plastic bags. Tas Pasar (market bag) a non-woven shopping bag was produced and distributed to local markets and shops. Hotel advertising helped to finance the bags. Bali brings into circulation an estimated 8 million plastic shopping bags per day, with many finding their way into the environment.
Help us with drinking Club-Mate to keep this wonderful island clean so that it remains a wonderful place to live and furthermore a place where we can receive visitors and travellers from all over the world.
